EDISON, NY - Sakara House has been selected to the 2008-09 All-MAAC Rookie Team and is a finalist to become the 2008-09 MAAC Rookie of the Year.
The freshman guard from Springfield, OH is one of eight players selected by the league's head coaches. The 2008-09 MAAC Rookie of the Year will be announced at the conference awards reception on Thursday, March 5th at 5:00pm at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY - site of the 2009 Citizens Bank MAAC Basketball Championships.
House was selected as MAAC Rookie Of The Week twice in a three week span late in the season. House finishes the regular season with 83 steals, the seventh best effort in Peahens history. Her 3.07 steals/game average led the MAAC for the season and is also among the nation's leaders. Starting 26 of 27 games for the Peahens this year, she finished with 226 points, good enough for 8.4 ppg, second on the team behind senior guard Tania Kennedy. She also dished 82 assists on the season in her first year in the Peahens backcourt.
The Saint Peter's College women's basketball team has earned the #4 seed in the 2009 Citizens Bank MAAC Basketball Championships, and will face #5 Iona on Friday, March 6th at approximately 3:30pm. The game will be webcast on RedZoneMedia beginning at 3:20pm.
